Fundraising Consultant (Part-Time Contract)
15–20 hours/week | Remote (Canada preferred)

Forward Avenue is a boutique fundraising consulting and coaching firm supporting small-to-mid-sized nonprofits—especially in the arts, culture, and social services sectors—to fundraise with clarity, confidence, and care.
We’re growing, and we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us.
This role sits at the intersection of client relationship management and hands-on fundraising. You’ll support client accounts while actively contributing to fundraising strategy and execution across individual giving, corporate sponsorship, and foundation fundraising.

What You’ll Do
Client & Account Management
-
Work collaboratively with the company’s CEO and Senior Consultant to support nonprofit client accounts
-
Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for 1–2 client organizations, building trust and continuity over time
-
Track priorities, action items, and follow-ups across multiple client engagements
-
Prepare for and co-lead client meetings, and ensure thoughtful follow-through afterward

Fundraising Strategy & Execution
-
Advise nonprofit clients on fundraising strategy, prioritization, and next best actions
-
Translate strategy into practical, executable plans and support hands-on implementation alongside clients
-
Contribute to and implement fundraising initiatives across:
-
Individual giving (campaigns, donor journeys, relationship-building touchpoints)
-
Corporate sponsorships and partnerships
-
Foundation and grant fundraising
-
-
Develop fundraising materials, including appeals, proposals, reports, briefing notes, and presentation decks
-
Support relationship-building with funders, donors, and sponsors
-
Use and maintain fundraising systems and records, including CRMs and tracking tools, to support organized, efficient, and well-documented fundraising efforts

What We’re Looking For
We’re a great fit together if you bring:
-
A heart-centric, relationship-oriented approach—you believe in the strengths of small nonprofits and care deeply about donors, communities, and impact
-
Readiness to roll up your sleeves and work in implementation. This is not an advisory-only role—you’ll be writing appeals, speaking directly with donors and funders, and building materials like case for support and proposals to support active fundraising
-
Comfort working across multiple fundraising streams, even if you’re stronger in some than others
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
An entrepreneurial mindset: adaptable, curious, and comfortable with ambiguity
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the bigger picture
-
Experience in using and comfort in learning no-code tools, including donor CRMs (e.g. Zeffy, Keela, Salesforce), project management platforms (Motion, Airtable), and email tools (Mailchimp, Kit)
-
Thoughtfulness, organization, and accountability
-
Interest in growing into more responsibility over time.

You Might Be:
-
A former or current in-house fundraiser
-
A fundraising consultant looking to join a team
-
A small nonprofit executive with fundraising as part of your previous roles
-
Someone with solid fundraising fundamentals who’s ready to deepen and expand your practice

You do not need years and years of experience in every fundraising stream. What we value most is how you think, how you build relationships, and how you show up.

What We Provide
-
A learning-forward culture
We believe consulting and fundraising are crafts that are continuously cultivated. You’ll have space to learn, ask questions, and collaborate with our team—without the expectation that you already know everything. -
High flexibility, by design
This is an outcome-focused, non-exclusive role. Many people on our team have other part-time roles, creative practices, or clients. We value whole humans and trust people to manage their time well. -
Tools and professional development
We provide the systems, technology, and regular learning opportunities (such as team lunch-and-learns) to help you stay organized and continue developing professionally.

Role Details
-
Hours: 15–20 hours per week to start, with the possibility to grow as our client portfolio grows
-
Compensation: $33–$36 CAD/hour, commensurate with experience
-
Location & Working Hours: Fully remote (Canada-based preferred). A minimum of 10 hours of synchronous availability between Monday–Friday (EST) is required. Outside of that, you manage your own schedule.

Please email your resume and/or LinkedIn profile to info@forwardavenue.co, along with short responses to the following questions (a cover letter is not required):
-
Tell us about a time you achieved a fundraising milestone for a client or employer
